A professor of psychiatry and board certified in general psychiatry, as well as a master’s degree holder in organizational leadership, John has expertise in the areas of innovation in medical education, accreditation, and transformational leadership.

He brings deep expertise and passion to training doctors to be leaders in their communities, in personalizing medical students’ education so it is relevant to their careers, and developing physicians who are prepared to practice innovative health care.

John came to WSU from the Chicago Medical School, where he served as dean, acting chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health, and professor of psychiatry. He was also president of the Rosalind Franklin University Health System and executive vice president for clinical affairs for the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. He has also worked in administrative and faculty positions at New York Medical College, the Florida State University College of Medicine, and Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.

John earned his medical degree at Southern Illinois University.
