The Youth and Families Program Unit meets community needs by providing community-based programs, conducting applied research, and collaborating with others to create an environment where individuals can thrive in richly diverse communities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\r\n\t\t\tOur programs support improved health and well-being for individuals, families and communities through increased nutrition security and opportunities to be physically active. Program staff facilitate nutrition education classes, both online and in community settings, as well as policy, system and environmental changes that make it easier for participants to improve diet quality, maximize food dollars, and increase physical activity.\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\r\n\t\t\t\n

\r\n\t\t\tOur programs offer consumers evidence-based educational opportunities and resources on food safety, including how to buy, store, prepare and serve food. We help families stay healthy and avoid foodborne illness. Consumers learn about home food preservation and limiting food waste.
