Our Faculty Affairs Committee (CEFAC) is in place to facilitate communication among faculty and administrators within the College. In addition to providing recommendations to the Dean on tenure and promotion, professional leave, and appointing selection committees for the Faculty Excellence Awards, an important function of CEFAC involves addressing faculty ideas, questions, requests, or concerns regarding college programs and activities. We invite faculty members to communicate their thoughts to CEFAC members either in person or by using the “Comment Form” section below.

Question: What is the difference between CEFAC and WSU Faculty Senate?
Answer: Whereas the WSU Faculty Senate exercises legislative powers regarding matters that affect the broader University system and makes recommendations to the President (and other relevant University administrative officials), CEFAC’s role is to manage initiatives specific to the College of Education and convey recommendations to the Dean and other College administrators.
Question: When and why did CEFAC begin?
Answer: CEFAC was initiated in the 1990s as a way to provide faculty members with a mechanism for communicating faculty perspectives to College administrators, influencing policy decisions related to College matters, and providing additional insight into processes regarding tenure & promotion, clinical faculty concerns, and professional leave. In addition to the main tasks of providing recommendations to the Dean on tenure and promotion, professional leave, and appointing selection committees for the Faculty Excellence Awards, CEFAC has addressed a variety of additional initiatives relating to educational, research, and service activities, as well as the overall welfare of the College work environment.
