OFFICE OF ACADEMIC ENGAGEMENT

CONTRIBUTE

Once someone joins WSU, they are a part of the Cougar Community. As such, we strive to ensure they have every opportunity to participate in the life-changing experiences available here—regardless of their background. OAE’s programs and initiatives, made possible by generous support of partners and donors, work to support those opportunities.

Please consider joining the individuals and organizations invested in the success of our students. Together, we’re exemplifying that Cougs help Cougs!

Cougs Rise

Cougs Rise works with select high schools in Washington to provide first-generation and low-income students support to finish high school and successfully start their college journey. Students get assistance with their transition and participate in a residential bridge program the summer prior to enrollment.

Crimson Community Grants

Crimson Community Grants supports students facing financial crises by providing between $200 – $1000 for their educational expenses as well as peer mentoring, post-emergency advising, and individualized financial planning. During the Covid-19 crisis, CCG has been providing students with educational technology and supplies needed for remote learning.

CSF Achievers

CSF Achievers Scholars provides holistic advising, financial aid planning, career development, and more to high-achieving students from low-income households. In addition to receiving scholarship support to make college more affordable, students are also provided with holistic advising and programming which includes academic advising, career development, financial-aid planning, individual support, and social activities.

Foster Youth and Formerly Homeless Student Academic Support Fund

The Foster Youth and Formerly Homeless Student Academic Support Fund helps students prepare for, attend, and succeed in college by providing significant financial support through the student’s first degree as well as personal, social, and career advising.

Former foster and homeless youth have great financial need, especially at this time. Please consider this fund that supports their academic needs such as books, laptops, and other academic supplies needed to fully participate in coursework.

Invest in Cougs

Invest in Cougs is a shared investment (the university, donors, and students themselves) that supports the success and graduation of low-income and first-generation students with a matched savings plan, peer-mentoring, financial education, and individualized support. Invest in Cougs shows remarkable results, dramatically increasing persistence and graduation rates by alleviating financial barriers that prevent students from being successful.
